Back in Phnom Penh again. In the past, I always stay at two of my favorite boutique hotels in the city – Penh House, and Plantation Urban Resort and Spa. I have written about them here:
But this time around, I wanted to try something new. And Baitong Resort and Hotel caught my attention.
Located in Phnom Penh’s expat neighborhood – with many cafes, restaurants, and bars – the hotel promises forest vibes – and this excited me.
True enough, the hotel has a kind of a forest at the center of the property the extends from the first floor to the fourth. I chose a room that opens to this forest – and I was not disappointed, as I can even hear the artificial mini waterfalls from the verandah of my room. See pictures below:

The rooms are clean and crew is very helpful. There are a lot of spaces within the hotel where you can have a nice chat with friends, or do some computer work.
Breakfast has a wide array of selection (better than Penh House) and the bar at the top floor is a nice location to chill out and watch the sunset.
But there is something to the place that makes it less appealing than Plantation. Maybe it just feels so “buildingy” despite its really laudable effort to bring the forest in.
Recommended yes? Better than the others that I have stayed in? Probably not.
