Co-Working Space, Workshops, and an Argentinian Steakhouse in Jakarta

You might ask me what those three things have in common. Not much, actually, except that it all involves me.

I am currently in Jakarta for a work week/end and to meet a team of people I have always had the pleasure of working with. This is the second time I am holding a workshop at a co- working space in a pretty modern meeting room that connects your Mac to a projector wirelessly and has an endless supply of cappucinos.

The place, WeWork, is near good restaurants and coffee shops. It’s very convenient to grab a coffee and have a hearty meal. For lunch, we chose to go to an Indonesian restaurant where I had my craving for ikan pepes satisfied. Semesta is a proper Indonesian Restaurant, but not necessarily one that I equate with my favourite Seribu Rasa.

To ensure we remained awake for the afternoon workshop, we grabbed coffee at % Arabica, and I was satisfied. My Spanish latte was not a pain in the stomach.

It was a good workshop, I should say, and much of it relied on the company. Here, see!

After the workshop, and after agreeing to meet and continue the following day, I headed back to the hotel. I thought I don’t need dinner, but scrolling through nearby hotel recommendations and some walking around lead me to this awesome place.

Sudestada is an institution on its own. Helmed by an Argentinian chef, the restaurant boasts of a carefully curated menu of flavours enough to remind you of Buenos Aires.

It was a good dinner. I started off with a ham and mozzarella empanada – crispy on the outside and gooey and soft on the inside. I was not very hungry, so instead of getting steak, I opted to get an equally satisfying Matambre – that thin layer of beef meat between the ribs and the skin, grilled to perfection. Then I thought I was not full enough, so I got Arroz Caldozo for a very flavourful and filling main course. I stayed for a bit and read my book, this time, “Talk” by Elizabeth Stokoe, so I could get the food to move down a little bit so I would have room for dessert.

The day ended with a pistacchio and italian cookie ice cream recommended by my kind waiter.
It was a day well spent. Don’t you think?
