Today is my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere outside of the resort we are staying in for dinner. I made a reservation at one of the famous restaurants on the “sunrise-side” of Koh Lipe. On the Rocks Restaurant is the main resto of Serendipity Beach Resort, another nice property on the island. The resto sits on top of rocks, hence the name, overlooking the beach.

The reservation was efficient. The crew initially gave us a table on the upper deck, but one on the lower deck became available before our food arrived. It had an unobstructed view of the beach. You really need to reserve, especially during the peak season (October to March), if you want the best seats. We got this table below:

Service was fast, and the food was good. Not necessarily the best, but it was good enough to satisfy your cravings. We had shrimp spring rolls for starters, and for the main course we shared king prawns thermidor, green chicken curry, and lobster in garlic sauce.

Overall, it was a good experience. I think the ambience made up for whatever lack the food had (e.g. canned coconut milk on the green curry, slightly overcooked lobster that it lost its natural suppleness). And the crew was attentive and very helpful – even to the extent of volunteering to take the picture when all our orders arrived.
Will we come again? Yes. For the view. Full stop.
