There are a handful of French restaurants in Vientiane so there are a lot of options to choose from. My colleague Tatcha recommends this place so we went there for lunch after a series of stressful meetings.
The place looks unassuming and the space is relatively small. We were fortunate that even without a booking, we were able to get a table on a Tuesday noon. Looking around, you can see that the restaurant has a fairly international clientele – some in suits, others in their pretty sundresses. The resto is decorated in a way that it feels like you are entering a French bistro when you step inside, though outside you can see a lot of bikes and a few helmets.

The restaurant publishes its lunch menu for each month on its Facebook page. For September, they have the following on offer.

I opted for a three course menu and I did not regret the choice. For starters, I had a Devilled eggs with Paris ham, Comte cheese, and gherkins. It’s a 9/10 for me. For main course, I got the Fish and Prawn Timbale and it was very delicious. A timbale is like a custard like dish and this one sets on a layer of fragrant rice and sweet curry sauce. 9/10 as well. For my dessert, I got a Chocolate and Caramel “Millionnaire” Shortbread. This one is a 5/10 for me. The topping was very sweet and the shortbread disintegrates when you cut through the chocolate. But the complimentary bread is very good that it compensates for all the gaps.

Service? 10/10.
Ambience? 10/10. Never mind the helmets. It is a good space for conversation.
Will I come back again? Definitely.
Maybe in October? For the October menu?
