Salaya Beach Houses in Dauin

After staying for a night at The Henry, we opted to stay in a beachfront property in Dauin, so it will be less travel for us if we want to go on an Apo Island tour. There were many properties on offer in Dauin, but I was fascinated by Salaya Beach Houses because I find the rooms very pretty and spacious, at least based on website photos.

Nestled on the coast of Dauin, Salaya Beach Houses enjoy a very good location—close enough to Dumaguete for convenience, yet a world away when it comes to peace and seclusion. The resort is framed by lush gardens and a magnificent view of the Apo Island on the horizon. The only real drawback is the resort’s entry road from the main highway: it is only accessible via a narrow one-lane road, which can be a bit challenging for drivers unfamiliar with the area or during busy times. Cautious navigation is required, especially for larger vehicles (good enough I only rented a mid-size SUV from Zam Car Rental).

The rooms at Salaya Beach Houses are beautiful as they are comfortable. The architecture and interior design is sophisticated and elegant, matching modern comfort with local materials and artistry. High ceilings and wide glass doors create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living. Natural light goes in effortlessly but can also be blocked conveniently through a mix of blinds and blackout curtains. We chose the two-bedroom luxury penthouse with a very spacious verandah, living room, dining area, and kitchen. The quality of architecture and design here is truly elegant, creating spaces that are both stylish and comfortable. This is probably one of the best beach houses we have stayed in in the last five years.

The natural environment surrounding Salaya Beach Houses is stunning – coconut palms, tropical flowers, huge trees, provide a very green picture set against the blue backdrop of the Bohol Sea. Apo Island floats on the horizon, a constant invitation for underwater exploration. Whether you’re a nature lover, diver, or simply seeking peace, the resort’s harmonious connection with its natural surroundings enriches your stay.

I invited my good friend Dave and his family for dinner at Salaya, because I was impressed by its menu and quality of service. Dahon Restaurant offers a menu that celebrates both local flavors and international favorites, all crafted from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Whether you opt to dine inside its glass-walled octagonal restaurant or opt for open-air setting near the pool, the experience is really exceptional, whether its breakfast or dinner (we were usually out for lunch). Every Saturday, Salaya hosts Aperitivo with Live Music and we were lucky to be there on a weekend.

What truly sets Salaya Beach Houses apart is its people. The team here radiates genuine warmth, making guests feel instantly welcome and at home. Every staff member—from the reception to the restaurant and housekeeping—provides attentive service without intrusion. Whether assisting with trips, serving meals, or simply greeting you with a smile at breakfast, the staff’s passion for hospitality is just heartwarming. They take the time to remember your preferences and go out of their way to make each moment special.
