ICSRQ: My favorite small meeting hotel in Singapore

Written by:

I am fond of small gatherings. As a classic introvert, I thrive in small group discussions. One of the organizations I work with often hold small meetings in Singapore that I facilitate and I always prefer the small meeting room at InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay as our venue for several reaons.

First, is the location. Tucked along the Singapore River, just upstream from Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, Robertson Quay offers a quieter, more refined riverside experience. It’s one of those places in Singapore that effortlessly blends city living with nature and charm. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the area, and the riverside early morning jog is always a pleasant experience for me everytime I visit the place.

Second, the quality of the hotel rooms. While generally smaller in size compared with other hotels in Southeast Asia, the rooms are beautifully designed and thoughtlfully laid out, especially when it comes to the bed, the lighting, and the size of the toilet and bath. A plus factor is the floor to ceiling glass wall on one side of the room that gives you a view of the city.

Third, is the quality of the food and the thoughtfulness of the food service. I have stayed in the place for several times, and I indulge myself with a bowl of laksa in the morning, and really good cupcakes on some days to go with my cafe latte. The crew seem to know us, that when in my recent visit, the waiter just said “that I’d get you your latte in a bit”.

Finally, the workshop room is just what I needed. For a group of 6 people, the room was huge, with its own access to a verandah where individual thinking sessions can be done and a living area next to the meeting table for lazy conversations.
