Awesome Staycation at Riva Surya

Written by:

I wanted my wife and kids to see the area where I worked for almost a year – Phra Athit Road – some 15 years ago. My first job after graduating from a masters degree at the London School of Economics was at the Food and Agriculture Organization, where I served as intern tasked to write an outlook paper to 2020 on macroeconomics and forestry in the Asia Pacific Region.

So I thought, why not a staycation near the area?

I chose Riva Surya for several reasons. First, the rooms face the Chao Phraya River, and the view resembles that of our office at the Forestry Division. Second, the reviews are good, both for rooms and food. And finally, I often see this place when I bring guests on an evening dinner boat tour and I just find its ambience, even from afar, quite inviting (comfortable and chic at the same time). Was I disappointed? No.

The rooms are of the right size, and we had one overlooking the pool and the river.

The restaurant on the ground floor fronting the river serves good breakfast and round-the-clock treats.

The service crew are very attentive, considerate, and kind. That is the case for the most of Bangkok and Thailand, but Riva Surya levels this up with great attention to detail.

Recommended? Definitely.

Will come back? For sure.
