Food with an awesome view in Almaty: Big Chefs Cafe and Restaurant

Written by:

Nestled at the foot of Almaty’s majestic Medeu mountain range, Big Chefs Cafe and Restaurant is more than just a dining spot—it’s an experience that whisks you into a world of breathtaking beauty and flavor. The first thing that strikes you is the panoramic view of Kazakhstan’s mountains. Picture this: snow-capped peaks in the distance, rolling green hills closer, and the crisp air carrying the promise of adventure. Honestly, it’s the kind of view that begs for long, lingering meals, where you can savor each bite while the scenery takes your breath away.

Now, the food. Let’s just say that the chefs here know how to create culinary magic. Whether you’re going for their juicy, grilled meats or lighter, fresh green salads, there’s something for every palate. The menu is a delightful fusion of local flavors and international flair, with dishes that are both familiar and adventurous.

Big Chef’s design matches the beauty of its surroundings. It’s modern and stylish, yet fits perfectly into the natural setting. Large glass windows give you a clear view of the mountains while keeping you warm inside. The place feels spacious, with comfy spots to gather with friends or relax alone, taking in the stunning scenery. We chose to stay outside, to enjoy the view of the majestic mountains. We were lucky that there was a vacant table when we arrived.

Big Chef isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a love letter to everything good about Almaty—the nature, the flavors, the warmth. You come for the food, but you stay for the view, the vibe, and that feeling of pure contentment.

Take that hike or cable car ride to Big Chef’s and you will not regret it. And while you are there, take the hike (or a cable ride) to Shymbulak’s highest point to marvel at the view!
