We decided to leave Bangkok again for the Songkran holidays (again) and preferred this time to head east to Maldives. It was a bold decision to make, given that Maldives has the reputation of being expensive. While that is true, we did not regret that spend, as all the time we were there, it was just all worth it.
We opted to stay closer to Male. Arlen, my wife, is not very keen on a seaplane ride to the atolls in the north. Among the things that we saw was Embudu Village. We were fascinated at how they tried hard to preserve the lush greenery of the island and situate 90% of the villas near the sea. We love too that the village does not have a pool – because who needs one when all the torquoise water around is more than enough?

This wharf, located just across the arrival hall of the Velana International Airport, was the beginning of the unforgettable journey. When we arrived, a staff member of Embudu Village was ready to lead us to our boat that goes directly to the resort. Embudu Village is a resort island and everything there, from bar to room and entertainment are located on 2-kilometer stretch of white beach.
Upon arrival at the island, this scene greeted us, and we were already floored.

After a quick check-in, we were then ushered to our rooms. We have two villas adjacent to each other as we are a family of 4 (with two teenagers). The rooms are simple, but you can hear the waves kissing the beach every time, 24 hours a day.

Our evenings were all about enjoying the sunset -which is just magnificent!

Morning and afternoons are swimming and wading times, every day for six days. Because the water is just irresistible!

The resort is full of creatures wandering around. It was just simply amazing.

And the rest of the place is just an everyday reminder of how great our God is.

The other good thing about the place, because it is an island of its own, is you will be encouraged to spend time together, eat together, and talk about good things together. I had a very good time with my wife and kids, from eating breakfast in the morning to playing badminton at midday to snorkelling on the reef in the early afternoons – all interspersed with really good conversations. We really enjoyed our time. We also did a day of excursion outside the island. We visited nearby islands, like Maafushi, Gulhi, and others, where there are independent hotels scattered across the island, unlike where we were, where the resort is the island itself. It was a good experience, despite the rain that threatened us along the way!

Our only regret is we did not stay longer.
We wish we did. The six days we had felt like two weeks, but still it was not enough. We left too soon.
Will we come back? When we are able to save again. 🙂
