This is the closest I can get to Christmas to remind me of home and how festive this season can get. The old city of Luang Prabang in Laos is just a stark reminder of a glorious past and a painful present.
This time of the year, the old houses at the main street are adorned with Christmas lights and stars and lanterns of various sizes. And its cold, so it all adds up to that Christmas feel. I love sitting on one of the outdoor cafes, sipping hot chocolate and delicious slice of macadamia cheese pie.
