I was wondering why this cafe, located in one of the small streets in Sukhumvit 101, gets voted as one of the most iconic (read: instagrammable cafes) in Bangkok, Thailand. So one Sunday morning, I dragged my wife and daughter with me to a 30-minute car ride. True enough, the place is really quite secluded, located on one of those small inner roads that make going there seem like an adventure on its own. Just like the taxi driver, you are not very sure if something is really worth the visit and the hassle.
Then, out of the blue, an iconic white building emerges, where the magic of Ithha Boutique Cafe starts to unfold.
The inner architecture is stunning, what with the sunken dining tables and tiled arches. The smell of good coffee greets you at the entrance. Food and dessert is not bad, but not exceptional. And there is an in-house store of beauty and health products that adds an interesting twist to the cafe set-up. There are meeting rooms in the upper floor and quite a handful of tables that suits on-the-go workers or couples on a date. The place claims that all that’s inside is chemical and toxic-free but I am no expert to assess if that is true. But probably yes, as all crew members are kind and seemed free of toxic attitude.
Is it worth it? Depends entirely on why you are there in the first place. If it’s all curiousity, or a desire to be just away from the busyness of a city cafe, then it’s quite a fit. I can imagine working here for a day, for the sake of a change in environs.
