Suppaniga Eating Room, especially its branch in Tha Tien, is a destination of its own. Nestled along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, it is one of those restaurants with an unparalleled view of Wat Arun, the temple of dawn. The brand, with three branches across Bangkok, is home-grown and boasts of the best Thai cuisine, largely adjusted to the palate of the non-Bangkokian.
The sunset deck tables though are hard to book. I booked a table for four in January 2023 and only got an available spot in the first week of March between the 5 to 7 time slot. This time is famous because its perfect for sunset viewing and Wat Arun, just across glitters like gold.
The food is not really phenomenal, when gauged by Thailand’s standards, but its delicious. It’s still a perfect companion to an hour or so of meaningful conversations. Service is fast and the crew are all kind and professional. Unlike other establishments, they do not remind you that you need to order equal to at least one meal per person, and not so rigid in terms of implementing its two-hour limit (yeah, because it’s famous, they give you a two-hour window per reservation).
But if you are here for the sunset, it certainly does not disappoint.
