Kanchanaburi Charm

Written by:

This trip to Kanchanaburi in Thailand was not planned. Late last night, we received a call from the nurse at St. Andrews International School that Dru, my son, had incessant fever that I need to pick him up today. He is on a residential trip with his Year 12 classmates in Kanchanaburi and was not feeling well since two days back. So I booked a car to Kanchanaburi to fetch him, two days ahead of scheduled end of the activity.

I was also excited. I have not been to Kanchanaburi and there are famous sights in the city, including the bridge and the cemetery below.

As I need to have lunch, I also looked for an artsy cafe near the resort where my son stayed. H2 Rivercafe, is beautifully designed as you can see below.

Food and drinks is quite okay. Prices are in the midrange. The cafe seems to be a local favourite, especially for those who want to have a quiet space (digital nomads, lovers on a date) or people who want to have some serious conversations (business persons, insurance agents).

The biggest asset of the place is its space. The parking lot is of ample size, something that you don’t normally see in places like this, qnd there is outdoor seating that’s perfect especially during late afternoons or early evening visits.

Too bad I only have space for one cafe in this visit. Hope to come again soon.
